Alternative Provision
Intervention not destination
Right support, right place, right time.
Alternative Provision
82% of children and young people in state-place funded alternative provision have identified special educational needs (SEN) and it is increasingly being used to supplement local SEND systems.
Alternative Provision must be seen as an intervention, not a destination.
Jessica works with AP's to educate and support settings to develop their knowledge of SEND and functions of behaviour to ascertain why learners are not accessing quality first teaching that should be underpinned by trauma informed and relational approaches.

Whether it is unidentified Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND), behaviour that challenges systems or learners needing to be stimulated and educated in alternative environments, Jessica supports with the planning, delivery, implementation and reintegration back into the setting.
Being curious in our approach
The highest rate of suspensions among educational settings is for persistent disruptive behaviour and for those with SEND. The highest rate of permanent exclusions is among those with SEND but with no EHCP.
By offering specialist guidance and support to Alternative provision, Jessica has supported learners to succeed and engage away from the conformities of a mainstream behaviour policy.
Jessica advocates that the reintegration back into school is just as important and works closely with learners, schools, parents /carers and professionals to make sure that this is designed carefully to minimise a re-referral.
Jessica also supports professionals to be curious in their thinking and approach to behaviour that challenges. By approaching behaviour as communication, unidentified needs can be assessed with clear planning, doing and reviewing through a Graduate Response.
